O-1B Approval for Theatrical Actor from India
We recently received an O-1B extraordinary ability visa approval for an Indian national who is a theatrical actor in New York City. Congratulations to our client!
Our client had studied acting in New York and was completing his OPT period. He is both a theater actor and also writes theatrical works, which is permissible under the occupation of Actor since the U.S. Department of Labor specifically lists both interpreting and writing original theatrical works as part of the duties of an actor in the O*NET. Combining both the recognition he had received through his performances as well as for his theater writing, we were able to demonstrate to the USCIS that he had the level of distinction required for O-1B classification as an actor.
