O-1B Approval for Japanese Photographer

We recently received an O-1B approval for a photographer who is a Japanese national. Congratulations to our client!

This is the second O-1B petition that we have worked on with this client. Since the same petitioner agent was filing the I-129, our client received an automatic 240 day extension on her O-1 status while a decision was pending. While we ultimately had to upgrade to premium processing, this automatic work authorization extension can serve an important function for individuals whose extensions are not adjudicated by the time their current O-1 status expires. If the same petitioner files for a new O-1, work authorization is extended for 240 days past the expiration of status or until a decision is made on the petition. Given lengthy processing times for O-1 petitions, if you have an upcoming renewal and you plan far enough in advance, you may be able to avoid premium processing fees if you can avail yourself of this extension.

I have over a decade of experiencing representing artists obtain O-1 status in the United States. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me for a comprehensive consultation at amir@rasoulpourlaw.com.
